Terry Pena Gasperino, Group Fitness Instructor

Terry Pena Gasperino

Terry, a Bronx native, was born into a family that shared a deep passion for both music and dance. Her journey in the world of dance began at the age of 4 when she started receiving classical ballet training, and she continued to dance on pointe until her teenage years. Eventually, her love for jazz took center stage.

Dance became Terry’s lifeline, and she took on various roles, leading classes, performing, and competing throughout her college years. However, a life-changing back surgery in 2006 shifted her path towards the fitness industry. She began teaching Spin, Silver Sneakers, and Dance Cardio, gradually expanding
her expertise.

In 2008, Terry embraced the world of Zumba, becoming an instructor. Over the last 15 years, she has taught a variety of Zumba classes, including Zumba Gold, Zumba Kids, and Zumba Toning.

While caring for her father, Terry extended her teaching career to seniors in her community. She introduced Zumba Gold Chair, reaching out to memory care, assisted living, and independent communities.

In her quest for a program that caters to all her students, Terry discovered ChairOne Fitness. In 2020, she became certified to teach the program and has since led classes in over 25 facilities and senior centers.

For Terry, dancing without pain or restrictions is a source of joy for both her students and herself. Her classes are guided by the motto, “If you can’t dance yourself happy, you might as well dance yourself silly!”
