Ray is from San Antonio, TX, and currently holds licenses in formats including Zumba, Zumba Toning, Aqua Zumba, Zumba Gold, STRONG by Zumba, and a certification to teach Fierce Funk.
Since May 2012, Ray has hosted numerous jam sessions, trainings, mentorships, and a wide variety of Zumba events in San Antonio, many of which are very popular. In 2015, Ray introduced Men Rockin da Pink—an event that brings together male Zumba instructors and vendors from all over Texas in support of the Texas Wings Foundation for Breast Cancer. In 2017, Ray brought his idea to life by introducing Zumba to the largest illuminated night parade in the nation, the Fiesta Flambeau Parade, a televised event held during Fiesta with over 3 million viewers nationwide. That same year, he opened Kaliente Dance Studio, providing dance and fitness classes in San Antonio for seven years. In 2024, Ray changed direction and moved forward successfully into the sign industry.
For Ray, dance is his universal language to the world—his stage is his microphone. His advice to the world: “Be Truly You.”
